EDUCATION FOR 2012

MANTRAS 2012 goal is to help upgrade our industry as a whole on the coast by sharing our education.  We are referred clients not only because of our skills, but also our customer service.  Quarterly classes this year will include back-to-basic techniques, advanced technique seminars, customer service skills & business building classes.

Our first class of 2012:

Long Haircutting Techniques

 January 30th from 2pm ~ 4pm

There are many recipies for how to cut long hair.  I would like to share with you my 3 favorite techniques that can be used to achieve many different layered looks on long hair. The class will be $40 (stylists at The Chair receive 50% off their class for allowing us to u…se their space). Each stylist will need to provide their own model.  Model must have hair below colar bone, preferrably closer to chest/bra length, and be willing to have layers (doesn’t matter if they’re short,  mid-length or long layers). The class will consist of a demonstration the first half then *hands-on* for the last half.  We will be taking pictures of our finished looks, so you’re welcome to invite your models to wear cute tops & accessories. Please share with other stylist friends!  All are invited!!

2nd Saturday featuring artist Rebecca Stefani

Rebecca is a self taught artist whose passions are translated in beautiful mixed media altars, collages and adornments. She uses her art as a social platform to advocate for the empowerment of women & girls all over the world. All proceeds will be donated to various non-profits and foundations that deal with dire issues women & girls face all over the world. The issues are: gender equality, ending child slavery and prostitution,… family planning, prevention of AIDS, funding education, and micro lending.

Join us for a special viewing and enjoy wonderful food and drinks to celebrate all that is feminine.

Mendocino Beauty Presents Mantras 1st Annual Fashion Show

At Mendocino Beauty and Mantras, we’re all about celebrating the unique creative talents and tastes of our clients and colleagues.  Our First Annual Fashion Show is a collaboration between Coastal Fashionistas.  It will showcase the work of the stylists, vendors, artisans and patrons whose eclectic points of view reflect a term our friend Amy Wall has coined:  Coastal Chic.  We believe that the elements of fashion:  hair, make up, clothing, accessories, when done consciously, is self-expression in one of its most tangible forms.  This Fashion Showcase is a celebration of what inspires us:  all of you.

Our show will consisit of 4 sets:  Each stylist will present their own mini-show capturing their essence and range as a stylist. Then a grand finale of Fantasy Hair, exhibiting what amazing things can be accomplished when we combine forces as a team!!  Catwalks, fashion, deejays, fire belly dancing…come play with us!!

July 10th at the Hill House Inn~

7pm:  The night begins with a no host bar welcome reception.
8pm:  The Fashion Show starts!!
The after party kicks in as soon as our work is done!

 Haute Glue by Toniq Vivant provides unique, hand-crafted accessories that can add fun and flair to any outfit or costume!  Inspired by art nouveau, burlesque, Native American style, Steampunk looks and tribal belly dance.  Lia, Elika, and Natalie started making fascinators and full head dresses for their own performances, then decided to share the wealth. They now create different looks from extravagant dance/performance head dresses to simple yet stunning pieces for everyday wear. Each one is lovingly made with mostly donated and recycled materials such as feathers, shells from their travels, foreign coins, leather scraps, and broken jewelry.
